How to have a romantic lockdown Valentines

And help local businesses at the same time

In years gone by, I have not really made too much of a big deal about Valentine’s Day (years as a singleton makes you bitter!!) Since being married we have preferred to buy in the supermarket meal deal and light a couple of candles. This year however with life being pretty mundane and nothing to look forwards to we are going all out for Valentines and making it an event!!

The way to my heart is through my stomach! So, food is the most important part of the evening. Restaurants have adapted in lockdown and set up delivery boxes, ranging from, no skill needed warm it through, to recipes and ingredients for the inner chef in you.

Check out your local favourite restaurant to see if they have any delivery service. A lovely local café to me does a yummy brunch box which would be a lovely indulgent gift of a lazy brunch in bed!

Or for something extra fancy, many of the Michelin star restaurants are delivery nationwide, they are offering 3 or 5 courses sometimes with a bottle of wine.

For those who are confident in the kitchen, look for local butchers or farm shops that are delivering and cook up a storm for your loved one.

If booze is more your thing, and who would blame you in lockdown! There are some great delivery box ideas out there. I have just bought the Valentines special from The Sitting Room in Saltburn. They are delivering nationwide and not only do you get 4 cocktails you get the glasses, some chocolates and a hand poured candle! Check out if your local bars are offering anything.

If you are more a takeaway is the only way type of couple, then why not dress your table for romance. Use candles, flowers and table linen to make your kitchen table look restaurant worthy.

Take your candles to the next level with a beautiful twisted handmade look. Here and now home do these brilliantly in lots of different colours.

Support your local small business florists this valentine. Check out Instagram for those that might work freelance and not have an actual shop, but usually sell at markets. Now more than ever they need our support.

Finally, why not say I love you with your table linen! My new range of table linen does just that! Available in a range of colours and hand printed motif designs. I have also done some reusable crackers for Valentines! Who says they are just for Christmas!! These are ready filled with a mini pack of love hearts, but you could add any love token you wish!
